Step by Step to a successful Purchase

What happens after the auction?
Purchase Price
When you bid, please take into account that on top of the so-called hammer price certain calculated surcharges are added. These charges depend on the type of taxation, which can be found out before the purchase. In general, for dealers, who are entitled to a pre-tax discount, the possibility of regular taxation exists. We ask for written notification before the invoice has been issued.
Differential Taxation:
Hammer prices up to € 500,000 + 29 % surcharge incl. VAT + 1.5 % droit de suite
Hammer prices from € 500,001 + 27 % surcharge incl. VAT + 1.5 % droit de suite
Regular Taxation:
Hammer prices up to € 500,000 + 22 % surcharge + 7 % or 19 % VAT + 1.5 % droit de suite
Hammer prices from € 500,001 + 20 % surcharge + 7 % or 19 % VAT + 1.5 % droit de suite
Droit de suite
The droit de suite deals with a European copyright levy, which requires the auction house or the seller to pass on 5% of the selling price to the artist or his or her descendents up until 70 years after his or her death. Ketterer Kunst takes on these costs completely and figures a fixed sum of only 1.5% per object.
Methods of Payment
We request either a bank transfer or payment of cash when you wish to pay your invoice. We cannot accept checks or credit cards. Default on payment will incur interest. With bank transfers or payments in other currencies, loss due to exchange or bank charges becomes the burden of the buyer. Invoices issued during or immediately following the auction require verification.
Pick up
As soon as the full amount of the invoice is paid, you can take your auctioned object with you immediately from the auction site or, by arrangement, pick it up at our offices in Munich or Hamburg. In order to avoid waiting, we ask that you notify us beforehand. Objects that have not been picked up four weeks after the issuing of the invoice can be stored at the cost of the buyer.
Shipment
Provided that we have a written shipping request from you, we will be glad to organize the transport of your object to an address of your choosing. In the case of a written or telephone bid, you can state your shipping preference on the bidding form. In general, all objects sent by us are insured. For this, an additional charge of 1% of the invoice will be incurred. If desired, uninsured shipping is also possible.
Exports
When necessary, export documents from our shipping department will be prepared free of charge.
Auction Results
Catalog subscribers and single issue orderers will receive the results lists by mail; buyers with the invoice. As of the first workday after the auction, we are also glad to give information on single objects by telephone.
Aftersale
As of the first workday after the auction, those objects which were not sold in the auction can be viewed for eight weeks hence and can be acquired for the limit price plus surcharges.
