Biography
Jakob Philipp Hackert was born in Prenzlau on 15 September, 1737. The artist was taught by his father and portrait painter Philipp Hackert who died in 1768. Hackert went at Paris in 1765 where he focused on gouache painting. In 1774 Jakob Philipp Hackert went to Naples where he could make sketches of an eruption of the Vesuv. He died in Florence on 28 April, 1807. Jacob Philipp Hackert is one of the great German landscape painters of the 18th century.
