Die Dargestellten sind Walt Whitman (1819-1892, einer der Begründer der US-amerikanischen Dichtung), Mahatma Ghandi aund David Hockney. Whitman hat in seiner Lyik die Schönheit der Natur und die Demokratie seines Landes behandelt. Auch thematisiert er die Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter und seine bisexuelle Neigung. [JS].
