Works by Theodor Werner often show a linear-graphic background, a concept the composition is based on. In this work an actually lavish form is consolidated in its two-dimensional structure, however, without being confined. The subtle coloring, which barely touches the linear structure, rather serves the purpose of an overall consolidation of composition. Werner's spectrum of forms is remarkably versatile, also in terms of technical execution he does not feel reticent to mix different materials, which is why his eagerness to experiment does not seem to have limits. His compositions are spontaneous, both in terms of invention and realization. Their immediacy appeals to the observer, an effect that Werner definitely intended. [DB].
