The development of Axel Dick's art reached geometric abstraction during a first journey to New York (1965). While his first pictures were strict black-and-white grids or pictures with parallel lines, he soon made light art objects. Colors became increasingly important on a second journey to the USA (1967). Simultaneously, he discovered the silkscreen technique as a means of expression. In the late 1960s he made light fields and serial objects with laser rays and blinkers, as well as important silkscreens. In the 1970s Axel Dick began making acrylic paintings and silkscreens showing colorful traces of light.
