The exact lines on portraits of young men from the late 1950s create soft and light heads on the paper. Together with the lines strict exactness, this airiness makes for an atmospheric image. They also show the artist's voyeuristic interest in his male counterpart. How brilliant Andy Warhol's line management is can be particularly well observed in those parts where it has been omitted: that is the head's upper contour line, the hand and the left shoulder.
