Willi Baumeister diversifies and develops his motif in image series. In doing so he always works on several series at the same time. This work is part of the series of the so-called "Figurenmauern" (Figure Walls). The artist describes the importance of this method as follows: "[..] in the course of its becoming the picture itself offers many options from which the next one can evolve." (quote after: Baumeister, Württemb. Kunstverein, Stuttgart 1979, p. 23). "Heitere Bewegung auf Rosa" is the loosened variant of earlier 'wall pictures'. The bright ground the figure above adds to the merry atmosphere.
