Pastels by Lesser Ury are characterized by an artistic duct that gives account of the landscape’s atmosphere, whereas topographic aspects remain unaddressed. Ury sums up his impressions and adds special meaning through the magic of his colors. The landscape is not interpreted for its actual topographic value, it is more the overall impression that matters to Ury. And yet, he never crossed the line to abstraction. His landscapes are the unusual essence of a development the artist pursued with great consistency and that makes his work so unmistakable.
