LITERATURE: Lorand Hegyi/ Michael Kluth, Günther Uecker. La poesia della distruzione, Prato 2012, p. 100.

Uecker's nail works, which count among his most important and most sought-after pieces, transform their forceful, almost brutal process of creation to beauty. Both in terms of formation and effect, Ueckers powerful-poetic creations express contradictions, merge action and contemplation, rest and motion and make for a fascinating artistic whole characterized by a calm beauty that lets the observer forget the heavy material it is made of. In the series"Verletzungen-Verbindungen" (Injuries-Liasions) Uecker attains a new artistic expression through destruction and a reorganization of the image carrier. The image surface receives a three-dimensional effect, both through the nails as well as through the plastic arrangement of the background. "When I am working I act unconsciously. I don't reflect my actions, over days I work myself into a state that allows me to transfer my inner drive onto a field of nails. At first its a dialog, then an organization and then some expressive palaver. In the end I say 'Don't touch it any more'." (Günther Uecker, quoter after: Tagesspiegel, 13 April, 2008, no. 19873, pageS 1).
