In terms of becoming and effect, Ueckers powerful-poetic creations combine apparent opposites, merge action and contemplation, rest and motion and form a fascinating artistic unity characterized by a calm beauty. The well structured works from 1968/69 are prime examples thereof. In connection with the Environment that Uecker created the same year for Szeemann's exhibition in Bern, the artist wrote: "where one space is imposed on another. where light falls in on me, where i see. where I become aware of the relativity of what's visible. This is where I carry out the thought of the antispace, as process-like appearance of the moment." (Quote after: Günther Uecker in: ex.-cat. Kestner-Gesellschaft, Hanover 1972, p. 41).
