"Whenever I am asked to talk about any of my pictures I prefer to talk about its materiality, about the picture as object. But i am quite aware - and I have said it time and again – that a picture's reality is much more complex. This reality has a triangular basis that unfolds between the object, that is the painting, me, the creator, and the observer. If one should have associations of sternness in the face of their simplicity, others will mention abundance and sensuality. That's up to the observer." (quote after: Hans Platschek, in: Künstler. Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst, Munich 1998, pp. 14f.).
