The emancipation of the color is at the core of Graubner's creation. It is no longer a mere means to an end to him as he foregrounds it for its own materiality. What Graubner achieves with the canvas tautened over the foam plastic cushions is a"spatializationand materialization" of the color. His terms "Nebelräume" (Fog Spaces), "Farbleib" (Color Body), "Kissenbild" (Cushion Picture) and "Farbraumkörper" (Color Space Bodies) reflect this important three-dimensional aspect of his works. In many his works Graubner brings up a color gamut to which he adds a second, more subtle one. Accordingly, this work is dominated by dark shades of red that overlay a light orange indifferent nuances, towards the margin it is accentuated by lighter shades of rose.
