"I feel that color has something irrational to it. Something that can not be perceived from an intellectual perspective. It changes its character with influences from the outside and under altered circumstances. It can emanate light, it can depict light, it is a reflection of light that comes from the dark and now - through the medium of color - appears in an increased function." (Quote after: Rupprecht Geiger, Rot Form. Bilder, ex. cat. Kunstverein Brunswick 1989, pp. 27f.). Rupprecht Geiger dedicates his art entirely to color as a means of expression, the form is reduced to just a few geometric elements like rectangles and circles. However, Geiger also limits his choice of colors to just two nuances in most cases, which he renders in subtle shades within the color fields and which have a contraposition. This way he creates fascinating color effects.
