PROVENANCE: From the artist's family.

Fleischmann's abstract works consist of two components. There is, on the one hand, a clearly structured color surface and, on the other hand, an indifferent, almost mystical expression created by the loose interplay of the color forms. Evaluating Fleischmann's work from a mere optical aspect, one could almost call it a constructive Divisionism. But there is more to it. Fleischmann is a romanticist among the constructive artists of abstraction. What other express with a gestural verve, the artist needs nothing more than the subtle use of colors. A meditative element prevails despite all construction. It allows the composition to go beyond all formal aspects and to enter the observer's conscience. [EL]
