Kazuo Shiraga employs pictorial language not only as a means to describe an issue, he also makes it purpose and subject of the painting. In his painting, comparable with Action Painting, he probes his own limits and also employs his body for the execution of the painting. Kazuo Shiraga's later works, among which this one counts, are expressions of this active and yet contemplative process of creation. The highly expressive and zestful application of the paint on the intentionally fragmentary paper stands for the artist's intuitive approach to his artistic creation.
