".. this truly sunny painting ! I can well recall it hanging on the wall of my childhood home."
Memoirs of Angelica Jawlensky Bianconi, artist's granddaughter, April 2018

While Jawlensky was mainly occupied with the 'Meditations' during the last years of his life he also made one or the other flower still life , often characterized by a striking freshness of intention. The airy dabs of colors determine the expression of our picture, in consideration of the bad health the artist was in during those years the painting is unusually merry and balanced. This painting is characterized by a peculiar spring-like glow. Angelica Jawlensky Bianconi still recalls the picture mounted on the wall in her parents' living room. [EH]
