PROVENANCE: Galerie Rod Barton, London.

Before he studied at the art academy in Düsseldorf and the London Royal College of Art Chris Succo was member of different rock bands. Apart from visual art, music and poetry also play an important role in Succo's life and may well be considered of decisive influence for his identity as an artist, which is also reflected in the titles of his works. The New York art trader and collector Robert Blumenthal explains: "It's a strange combination. A lot of these titles are coming from his poetry, and a lot of the poetry is coming from his influence as a child being on the road, being involved with rock 'n' roll. I think it's a big part of his work and who he is; where he's coming from and where he's going." (Quote from: Molly Gottschalk, Up and Coming: Poetry Meets Rock 'N' Roll in Chris Succo's Abstract Works, September 12, 2014, online). [CH]
