Signed. Recto and verso with several hand-written, partly erased numbers and inscriptions in pencil and a blue stamp "ausgestellt/ 2. JUL 1919". On smooth creme board. 48.9 x 33.9 cm (19.2 x 13.3 in) , size of sheet.
Cardboard with truncated embossing stamp "SVH" [?] (in ligature).

Before Struck celebrated his breakthrough at the Munich 'Glaspalast' exhibition in 1889 with the painting "Der Wächter des Paradieses", the youg art student had already made a name for himself as drawer of portolios like "Allegorien und Embleme" (1882-1884) and "Karten und Vignetten" (1886) for the Vienna publishing house Gerlach & Schenk. Drawings for objects of commercial art, such as table decorations, or - as it is the case with this drawing - for a picture frame with floral elements - were also made during this period fo creation.
