• Fascinating work from the mature period of the 1955 deceased artist, in which his importnat position in post-war art becomes manifest: Hofer delivers counterevidence for the incommensurateness of figurative and abstract painting.
• Hofer depicts a touching vulnerable male nude, a rare motif in art history.
• In 1955 his creation was posthumously honored with a presentation at documenta I, the first large art exhibition after World War II and an apology to artist's defamed by the Nazis
