Erste deutsche Ausgabe, nur zwei Jahre nach der lateinischen Erstausgabe erschienen und dritte Ausgabe überhaupt. Seltenes, an Karten vollständiges Exemplar in schönem Altkolorit (fehlen lediglich der Drucktitel und 3 Bll. Widmung; das Kolorit in wenigen Fällen dezent und sorgfältig überarbeitet). "The copperplates for the first atlases minor were most probably made by Hondius himself" (Koeman). - Mit dem gest. Titel der lat. Ausgabe. Enthält eine Weltkarte in zwei Hemisphären (Shirley 259), Erdteilkarten von Europa, Asien, Afrika und Amerika, eine Nordpolkarte in Rund, 117 Teilkarten von Europa (24 Deutschland), 10 von Asien (darunter Japan), 7 von Afrika, 5 von Amerika und zuletzt 6 themat. Karten, darunter 1 weitere Weltkarte (Sh. 260) und eine Karte vom Paradies. Die Karte von Candia kopfüber gedruckt. - Etw. fleckig und mit wenigen kl. Ausbesserungen, vord. Drittel und gegen Ende ca. 30 Bll. mit Wasserrand, Kupfertitel ausgeschnitten und montiert. Einbd. fachmännisch restauriert.

First German edition. Rare copy containing all maps (lacking only the printing title and 3 text ll.). With engr. title,1 fullpage allegor. engraving and 152 fullpage engr. maps, all in beautiful, partly reworked contemporary coloring. Contemp. calf with large gilt vignette on boards. - Somewhat stained and with few occasional restorations, first third and about 30 ll. towards the end waterstained, engr. title cut out and mounted. Binding expertly restored.
