Thomas von Aquin, Opuscula. With very many lombards drawn in red . Venice, Hermann Liechtenstein, 7 September, 1490. Contemp. pigskin over slanted wooden boards on three double bands and with 2 brass clasp fittings as well as rich blindtooling: Frames of slant iron lines, containing rosette stamsl and rhomb-shaped blossom stamps, also with a deer stamp. 4to. 436 ll. Gothic type. 2 cols. 55 lines, rubricated.

GW M46029. - Hain/Cop. 1541. - Goff T 258. - BMC V, 358. - BSB T 236. - Polain 3712. - The publisher of these 72 small writings and a biography on Thomas von Aquin was Antonius Pizamanus. - Nice and clean print with extraordinarily many elaborately executed lombards, partly with playful extensions. - Collation: aa12, a-u8, x12, A-Z8, AA-GG8, HH12. - At the beginning and ca. 50 last ll. somewhat wormed (minimal loss of printed matter), 5 ll. with defective corners, lower margin with isolated waterstains, recto fo first l. with old ownership entry as well as stamped, endpapers renewed, book block slightly broken. Rear clasp fittings and movable clasp elements removed, 2 small restored damages to edges as well as restored upper spine end. Complete and very well-preserved copy in a contemp. binding.

Edited by Antonius Pizamanus. With numerous red initials and lombards. Blindstamped pigskin over over wooden boards on 3 raised bands. - At beginning and last 50 leaves sigthly wormed (minim. loss of printed matter), 5 leaves with corner cut away, slightly waterstained at lower margins, prelim. leaves renewed, inner book even broken. Binding slightly wormed, lower edges scraped, clasps remowed at rear cover, back cover and hear of spine restored with vellum. Altogether fine and inside clean copy in a contemp. binding.
