Andrews (ca. 1770 -ca. 1830) galt als begabter Pflanzenmaler und kenntnisreicher Botaniker und war zudem - wie auch im vorlieg. Werk - als Verleger seiner eigenen Werke tätig. Die Beschreibungen in Englisch und Latein stammen in den ersten 5 Bdn. von J. Kennedy, Bd. VI wurde von A. H. Haworth beschrieben, die späteren Bände von G. Jackson. - Teils fleckig, Ränder etw. gebräunt, Textseiten meist mit Abklatsch der Tafeln, die Falttafeln teils mit Knickspuren am Rand, ca. 17 Taf. mit kl. (restaur.) Randläsuren, Bd. Contemp. calf bindings: Volumes I-IV in red calf with top edge gilt and some gilt tooling on boards and spine, volumes VI-X in dark brown calf with gilt tooling on boards and spine (volumes VI-VIII additionally with gilt edges and gilt inside borders), vol. V in brown calf (spine renewed). 4to. - Partly stained, margins somewhat browned, most text pages with offsetting from plates, most folding plates with maginal creasing, ?? plates with small (restored) marginal blemishes, volume V with small isolated holes in margin, 4 title ll. stamped, plate 478 with restored split. Bindings partly stained, spine somewhat browned, with isolated scratches and scuffmarks, defective spot at upper spine end of volume IX mended, rear joint of volume VII somewhat split. All in all in good condition.
