Erste lateinische und erste illustrierte Ausgabe. "Includes Mattioli's translation of Dioscorides, the 6th book is the De venenis and De venenatis animalibus, in some versions called books 6-9. The Latin commentaries are a revision and enlargement of the Italian" (Durling). Mit fein geschnittenen Pflanzen- und Tierdarstellungen.

EINBAND: Restaurierter Lederband des 18. Jahrhunderts. 33 : 22 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit ca. 560 Textholzschnitten. - KOLLATION: 23 (st. 24) nn. Bll., 705 (st. 707) S. - ZUSTAND: Fehlt der Titel und Textbl. S. 109/110 (Text nebst Illustration handschriftlich mit höchster Akkuratesse nachgeschrieben bzw. gezeichnet und ersetzt). - Tls. gering fleckig, erstes Textbl. am Fußsteg mit Randläsuren, 1 Textbl. mit ausgebess. Randschaden, 20 Holzschnitte dilettantisch ankoloriert.

First Latin and first illustrated edition, with about 560 woodcut illustrations of plants, herbs, animals and insects. Restored 18th cent. calf. - Lacking title-page and pp. 109/110 (replaced by a fine, very meticulously written resp. drawn facsimile). - Here and there minor staining, first text leaf with marginal defects at bottom, 1 further leaf with mended marg. spot, 20 woodcuts amateurishly colored.
