What is it worth?
Our experts are glad to ascertain the market value of your works for you.
Simply send us an illustration or photo by email or mail with all the information you have available. After a detailed analysis of the international market, our experts will give you a first estimate.
Sometimes looking at the original work is necessary. Feel free to bring in the artwork to our Munich or Hamburg houses. We will also visit you and your collection at home; we travel the world over and arrange expertís days all over Germany.
How do I sell?
After viewing and researching your collection or high priced single objects, our experts are glad to provide you with a personal offer...
After viewing and researching your collection or high priced single objects, our experts are glad to provide you with a personal, multifaceted, and entirely nonbinding offer with market analysis, in which they will suggest an estimated price and a limit price for your artwork. In general, all of the estimates we offer in the context of potential consignment in one of our auctions are free.
After our experts have named an estimate and a limit price and suggested the best auction for your object, you decide whether or not consignment is an option. In the case that you do decide to consign with us, you will then receive a contract for your signature.
On request, our shipping department will organize insured transport of your work to the auction site. This is free within Germany, in so far as timely collective transport is possible.
Your work is insured by us from the day of consignment until the time it leaves our house. The costs amount to 1% of the hammer price if sold or 1% of the agreed limit price (reserve price) if not sold.
Our experts will research your work and its artist exhaustively and guarantee a professional catalog description.
All objects are professionally photographed and reproduced in our catalog, on our website, and in direct mailings to our clients. The costs vary according to size, between € 20 (single column) and € 600 (full page in catalog) and € 1,200 for a fold out page in the catalog.
Illustrations of especially interesting works and works delivered early are used in our public relations work, in advertisements and for various marketing activities. These opportunities additionally increase the sales chances of the object.
Cleaning, Restoration, Preservation
It is possible that a professional cleaning/restoration or necessary preservative measures will be beneficial for the successful sale of your object. In that case, we will use our long enduring contacts to the best professional restorers, who also work for public institutions, to arrange a professional handling at cost price plus an additional fixed operating cost of € 50 for coordination, transport, consultations, etc.
An accredited expert appraisal is in many cases very important for the sale of an artwork. Thanks to our close contacts to the authoritative international experts, we can assist you if you donít already have the expert appraisal. For this request in Germany or abroad as well as for the organization and handling, we charge a fixed operating cost of € 150 plus transport costs and the expertís fee.
After the Auction
Sales Commission, Droit de suite, Aftersale...
Our standard commission per object amounts to:
15% for objects over € 10,000
20% for objects from € 3,001 to € 10,000
30% for objects up to € 3,000
Droit de suite
The droit de suite deals with a European copyright levy, which requires the auction house or the seller to pass on up to 4% of the selling price to the artist or his or her descendents up until 70 years after his or her death. Ketterer Kunst takes on these costs completely and figures a fixed sum for all objects of only 1.5% for consignors.
Your work is insured by Ketterer Kunst. Thus we need to charge 1% of the hammer price. Should the work remain unsold, 1 % of the reserve price is charged.
According to the size of the image in the cataloge, cost between € 30 and 600 per image will be charged.
Four weeks after the auction, you will receive a written statement of your sales, and three weeks later, we will send a collection only check or arrange a bank transfer to your account, if desired, in foreign currency to accounts abroad, according to the valid terms and conditions.
Objects that were not sold in the auction will be offered during aftersale for the limit price for an additional four week.
In the case that your object is not sold, we ask that you retrieve it as soon as possible. On request, we will gladly arrange for shipping to you. Should the object be left in our house longer than three weeks after the aftersale, fees for further storage will be incurred.
