Monogrammed and dated lower left. 32,2 : 39 cm (12,6 : 15,3 in). In 1909 Edmund Daniel Kinzinger began his training as an artist by studying at the Munich Art Academy but transferred the following year to the Stuttgart Academy, where he at first was a pupil of Christian Landenberger’s. From 1912 until 1914 Kinzinger was in Adolf Hölzel’s master class. In 1919 Kinzinger joined forces with other Hölzel pupils, including Oskar Schlemmer and Willi Baumeister. to found the group known as “Üecht”. Initially under the sway of Late Impressionism, Kinzinger produced work with Expressionist overtones before the Great War, including our casually sketched bathing scene. [NB]

Minimally discoloured. Sheet partially with minor ripples. Upper edge with a few tiny paper losses. Partially with minor craquelé, there with tiny colour flakings. Edges with tiny retouchings between paper and cardboard.
