Jörg Immendorf made the bronze "Für dunkle Tage" [For Dark Days] during a period of deep depression in 1968. To comfort himslef he created a flower with a caterpillar on its way up to the blossom. The caterpillar in its pre-stage to become a butterfly is a symbol of hope and transition to Immendorff. The bronze was not released in an edition to the benefit of the aid organization "Doctors Without Borders" before 2003. [DB].
