Since a wide recognition of painters of New Objectivity is still due, the art market seeks particular orientation with all the remarkable artists from the 1920s. Alongside, however, many artists followed the spirit of these days, but yet, they have not received any recognition apart that from the local art scene. Kurt Weinhold is one of those artists, his most important works are rarely part of museum exhibitions of New Objectivity, and yet, his paintings offer a lot of room for important discoveries. The dense expression of the portrait of the artist's wife in front of a gramophone and the remarkable technical execution are clear arguments therefore. The The material's delicate treatment is in a remarkable contrast with the scant composition, which apart from model and gramophone case offers no further expression. Similar to the canon of forms and colors of Rudolf Schlichter, Kurt Weinhold was able to find his own way. A way that allowed him to develop independent technical means and choice of motif. [KD]
