EXHIBITION: "Die zwanziger Jahre (II). Deutsche Kunst von 1924 bis 1933" (series: Kunstblätter der Galerie Nierendorf, Berlin, vol. 21/23), Galerie Nierdendorf, Berlin 1971. Cat. no. 447 (with illu.).

Soon after he had completed his academic training in Dresden in 1914, the young Kurt Schwitters abandoned the academy’s realistic style. In a relatively short time he examined different tendencies in art, such as Late-impressionism, Fauvism and Expressionism, in his works. This fresh and unusually lively work, with which Schwitters examines impressionist landscapes, can be ascribed to his early period of creation. [CB].
