After a model by Johann Peter Melchior for the manufactory Höchst, around 1770.
Masom with haggard face, bent over, erecting a wall. In his right hand a brick trowel, a stone in his left hand. Further typical attributes such as goniometer and water-level on the ground.
Bottom inscribed "St" (scratched) and blue wheel mark.
Counterpart of shoemaker's figure. Mason and shoemaker are among the few people that Melchior depicted as adults. (Cf. Patricia Stahl, Höchster Porzellan 1746-1796, Frankfurt/Main 1994, p. 270, no. 6.10.14., there variant decorated in many colors).
