As the squeegee technique applied on his paintings and the overpainting of photographs, the technique of applying the squeege technique over an object leads to and obscuration and an alienation of the underlying motif. Image carrier for this specific technology used by Richter is a copy of the record "Kangaroo", which the Texan rock band Red Krayola released jointly with the artist group Art & Language in 1981. In a final step, the artist seems to have pulled two fingers through the blue and green oil paint. All in line with Richter’s concept, coincidence plays a great role, because the artist is thus freed from the necessity of a conscious design or composition, and may produce something unpredictable. Applying this technique to a record is a preparation for the comparable "Goldberg Variations", however, it must be seen as an independent work of art.
