Homenatge als Constructivistes. 1970s.
Sculpture. Anodisized aluminum.
375 x 156 x 280 cm (147,6 x 61,4 x 110,2 in).
The plastic's current location is Marbella, Spain, where it can be observed if desired.

PROVENANCE: Private collection Spain (acquired directly from artist).

It seems that Alfaro combined the principles Minimal Art with those of Futurism and Kinetic Art, because their effect is by no means static. Rather, the filigree creations by the Spaniard seem to set in motion before the eye of the beholder with a change of perspective. In our large-scale sculpture, one of the few monumental works by Alfaro in private ownership, the artist lets two rows of aluminum rods in a slightly fanned arrangement penetrate each other on a horizontal axis section. In the slight wave motion each rod finds it exact mirror image in the other row. Alone from a variety of equally long aluminum rods Alfaro created a perfect synthesis of curve and straight line, stability and simulated motion and the illusion of time and space by a skillfully executed sequence.
