Femme à la souris (Homage to Margot Fonteyn). 1972.
Sculpture. Gold (?).
With name and inscription "E.A." on back. One of 4 artist copies aside from the edition of 8. Height without base: 8,3 cm (3,2 in).
The small sculpture delivers proof of Dalí's remarkable ability to create bodies that explore the limits of sculpting. After his emigration, Margot Fonteyn was Rudolf Nureyev's dancing partner for many years. Even though she was already over 40 years of age, the couple had lasting influence on 20th century dancing. A monumental version of the sculpture used to be in the Collection Perrot Moore at the Museum in Cadaqués. [EH].

PROVENANCE: Private collection Saarland.
