The objects that are mediums of his art have no own value. Once the observer's conscience has absorbed them, they have fulfilled their purpose, so to say they function as a gateway. In our impressive work this shows on two metaphoric levels. The image carrier is a portal, both in its actual form as well as in a figurative sense, which stands between two rooms or symbolic spiritual worlds, offering the opportunity to pass over. Uecker's artworks can be perceived as tools of changing intellectual processes. "Art cannot save man, but a dialog is possible with the means art has to offer, which can call for actions to save mankind." (quote after: Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst, Munich 1988/1992, p. 2).
