The comprehensive series "Daphnis und Chloé", published by Verve in Paris in 1961 may very well be called the main work of Marc Chagall'Äs graphic creation. The bucolic atmosophere of the literary model is ingeniously transferred to Chagall's pictorial language which emphasizes the text's pastoral and magic atmosphere.
