Erich Heckel. Gemälde Aquarelle Zeichnungen. Galerie Wolfgang Ketterer, Munich, 26 February to 17 April, 1966, cat. no. 111 with illu.

Ever since the summers at the Baltic and the Moritzburg Lakes with Pechstein and E. L. Kirchner, Erich Heckel time and again picked up the motif of bathing nudes at the beach in his pictorial creation. However, the expressive colors from the earlier days and the social issues from the times of World War I and the post-war years have vanished in the 1920s. Heckel had found his idyll there. A moderate palette on basis of an elaborate drawing bundles the composition, its harmonious overall impression is the decisive element of his artistic creation in those days.
