Work's from Nay's later period of creation are characterized by a concentration of color and form. The artist creates a high degree of tension through composition and colors, which also becomes obvious in our gouache. The ingeniously implemented magical shades of yellow, ruptured by the white, underline the work's strong point. In the work "Doppelspindel - Gelb" Nay evokes perspectives through the white 'openings' that allow the observer to have a three-dimensional experience and to look beyond the picture. The special appeal is made up by the interplay of the different color tonalities, which, both mysterious and demanding, evoke a world where romanticism and boldness unite. [StM].

The sheet will be included into the forthcoming second volume of the oeuvre catalog of Nay's watercolors, gouaches and drawings, currently compiled by Elisabeth Nay-Scheibler and Dr. Magdalene Claesges, Cologne.

PROVENANCE: Private collection Germany.
