Private collection Vienna (acquired in aforementioned auction, since family property).

According to the artist, who was still alive when the watercolor was sold at auction, it was made in where he used to spent the summer months until the year 1944. The strong drawing and the consolidated forms speak for an origin in this time after WWI. This expressionist period was of crucial importance for Heckel's artstic creation. The watercolor's delightful purple and light blue subtly underline the pictorial effect. [KD]
