"Our reality is just one of many possible ones. I act on the assumption of a reality of light where everything is different. Art is a method to gain reality."
Adolf Luther

In the art of Adolf Luther the ocupation with light goes far beyond the examination of the merely optical phenomenon. Luther approaches a key question of art, the question regarding the image of nature and the world view. "What I see behind the big conflicts of our century is the quest for more reality beyond the world of visible occurences [..] everything about light is part of another dimension beyond the spatial-material world" (quote from: Luther 34. Objekte-Kinetik, Flyer Galerie Wendtorf + Swetec, February 6 - March 3, 1976). Luther's Werk confronts us with the metaphysic phenomenon of light and succeeds in liberating us from the material everyday world for just the moment of viewing. [SM]
