Woll 9. Schiefler 12a/III (of a/III). Signed. On creme wove paper. 20.4 x 31.4 cm (8 x 12.3 in). Sheet: 32,8 x 43 cm (12,9 x 16,9 in).
Schiefler and Willoch date this work to 1895, whereas Langaard and Woll suggest an origin in 1894. Munch used the motif in 1885 (in reverse impression) for a painting with the same title. Today the work is at the Munch-Museum in Oslo (cf. inventory no. Munch-museet M 340). The person depicted is the Norwegian painter Karl Jensen-Hjell and an unknown woman. [CE].
