Winkel mit Goldkreis (PLT 082). 1921.
Wooden relief, with colors.
Verso monogrammed and dated as well as with a presumably later dedication "Für Albert und Eila von Erich", and belatedly inscribed bezeichnet "1968" presumably by a hand other than that of the artist. 26.5 x 23 x 1.5 cm (10.4 x 9 x 0.5 in).

• Fascinating composition from the artist's early period of creation
• One of Buchholz’s rare and early "Holzbildern" (Wooden Pictures).
• Made the same year the artist had his first solo show at Herwarth Walden's famous gallery "Sturm"
.

PROVENANCE: Erich Buchholz (presumably until 1968).
Eila Schrader-Buchholz (the artist's daughter; obtained as present; presumably 1968 -1986)
Elke Dröscher, Kunstraum Falkenstein, Hamburg (acquired from aforementioned; 1986).
Private collection Schleswig Holstein (since 1986).

EXHIBITION: Galerie Elke Dröscher, Kunstraum Falkenstein, Hamburg 1986 (with label on the stretcher).

"[..] the relatedness to them [Suprematists and Stijl movement] and the awareness of the laws inherent in space become particularly obvious in the wooden reliefs, in white, black, red and gold. They may well be called icons of the 20th century. "
