• The interdisciplinary artist Roberto Burle Marx was not only a successful painter, but also an acknowledged landscape architect and musician, and was committed to the protection of nature throughout his life.
• Over 30 plant species and one plant genus are named after the artist.
• In 1939, he designed the planting plan for the Brazilian pavilion at the New York World's Fair.
• Perhaps his most spectacular and best-known work is the Copacabana promenade in Rio, designed in the early 1970s.
• Like his landscape gardens, his paintings fascinate the viewer with their very own mixture of rambunctiousness and symmetry
.

PROVENANCE: Private collection Berlin.
