Gercken 452 I (von II). Dube R 133. Schiefler R 97. Signed and inscribed "Eigendruck I. Zustand" and inscribed by a hand other than that of the artist. Verso titled "3 Badende am See" and bezeichnet "Probe Druck I. Zustand". Verso with the estate stamp (Lugt 1570b) and the handwritten number "R 97". Only to date known copy from the first state. On laid paper. 20 x 25 cm (7.8 x 9.8 in). Sheet: 28,5 x 34,6 cm (11,2 x 13,6 in).
The original zinc plate is in posession of the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe. [CH].

• The only to date known copy from the first state.
• The only known copy from the second state is part of the Graphic Collection at Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
• Subtle yet strong and splendid print from the "Brücke" heyday.
• The unconstrained nudity of the bathers on the Moritzburg Lakes was a main source of inspiration for E. L. Kirchner and his fellow "Brücke" artists: There is hardly any other motif so characteristic of their expressionistic creation
