• The strong blue, characteristic of the artist's palette, pervades both the sky and the Ticino architecture.
• As of 1929 Christian Rohlfs spent most of the year in Ascona on Lago Maggiore, where this work was also made.
• More works on paper from the 1930s are in possession of , among otehrs, the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, the Museum Folkwang, Essen, and the Osthaus Museum, Hagen
