Watercolor and color chalks.
Signed, dated and titled in bottom right. On slightly structured wove paper. 55.7 x 69 cm (21.9 x 27.1 in), the full sheet.
With some annotations on colors and material by the artist. [CH].
• From the artist's estate.
• Privately-owned for almost 40 years.
• As of the late 1920s, Heckel put increasing focus on landscape depictions, both in Germany and on journeys through Europe.
• Around 1934 the artist made a few watercolors and oil paintings of the hilly landscpae of the Rhön mountains which are quite distinct from his expressionist creation. This work offered here is part of this group of works
