Statement by Prof. Dr. Erich Franz about Harine Suthan.
Harine Suthan - Consequence and Disruption Content. Involuntarily and constantly, our perception aims for context, an identity, something familiar. We are permanently “searching for clarity” (Günther Kebeck). […] The formations appear balanced, similarities confirm each other, the colors produce a special sound. Movements emerge from progressions, rhythmic curves, progressions and sequences. They create a specific dynamic. […] Bodies and figures layered in groups, step apart, form spaces. Aware – conscious. I soon notice: The perceived identities do not remain stable. […] Correlations that I spontaneously recognized break apart – the connection between the colors, the forms, the motifs, the picture. [..] Carefully painted stripes of color softly blend into each other – computer-generated? Sudden perceptions slow down, disappear, appear flickering and discontinuous. Fill. New identities and contexts constantly appear in Harine Suthan's pictures. But immediately – or even gradually – they dissolve again. Nothing lasts. The content fills in the images. I fill in the pictures with them. The images empty out. "Content aware fill" - that's what a "tool" in Photoshop is called: "Remove unwanted objects with content-aware fill".
