With the estate stamp on the reverse (somewhat faded). Inscribed with the inventory number “174” on a label on the reverse and with a label reading “LESSER URY 223.”. 48 x 35.5 cm (18.8 x 13.9 in).
• Significant provenance: Directly from the artist’s heirs
• Depictions of Dresden are extremely rare in his oeuvre
• Lesser Ury shows the play of sunlight on the rooftops in his characteristic style
• In this pastel, he combines light and color to create a calm, sensitive mood.
The pastel will be included in the catalogue raisonné of Lesser Ury's paintings, pastels, gouaches, and watercolors currently in preparation by Dr. Sibylle Groß, Berlin.
PROVENANCE: Artist's estate (1931, estate number 174, with the label on the reverse).
