Zwei weibliche Akte im Atelier. Um 1910.
Colored chalk drawing.
On off-white wove paper. 36.4 x 38.7 cm (14.3 x 15.2 in), the full sheet. [CH].

• A colored drawing from the sought-after Dresden “Brücke” period.
• The female nude in the studio was one of the key motifs of E. L. Kirchner and the “Brücke” artists.
• Spontaneous and immediate: with a few, precise lines and dynamic, hatched color fields, Kirchner captured a fleeting moment on paper.
• The motif of the double female nude is also found in paintings with similar compositions, such as “Two Nudes on Carpets” (1909, Gordon 79) or “Two Nudes on a Blue Sofa” (1910/20, Gabriele and Werner Merzbacher Collection, Kunsthaus Zürich)
.
