Monogram engraved on the left heel. One of two bronze copies. Height: 47 cm (18.5 in). Base: 1,5 x 23 x 8 cm (0,5 x 9 x 3,1 in).
Three other copies were executed in iron. [EH].
• Fritz Koenig reduces the riding couple to an abstract, existential symbolic form.
• Horseback riding: a very personal motif for Fritz Koenig, who ran his own stud farm on near Landshut.
• In the 1980s, he constructed figures from reduced, sometimes split cylindrical forms.
• Bronzes by the artist from this period are in important collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.

For works by living artists, or by artists who died less than 70 years ago, a artist‘s resale right compensation is levied in accordance with Section 26 UrhG:

another 3 % of the hammer price from 50,000.01 to 200,000 euros,
another 1 % for the part of the sales proceeds from 200,000.01 to 350,000 euros,
another 0.5 % for the part of the sale proceeds from 350,000.01 to 500,000 euros and
another 0.25 % of the hammer price over 500,000 euros.
The maximum total of the resale right fee is EUR 12,500.
The artist‘s resale right compensation is VAT-exempt.
