[Pizzala, A.], Vues pittoresques des ruines et des principaux monumens de Pompei. Découverts jusqu' a nos jours. With 23 aquatint plates (incl. title). Naples 1826. Contemp. boards. Oblong folio. 10 pp.
Very rare edition, not in the respective bibliographies, also not traceable in major libraries. The work with views was made by the architect Andrea Pizzala from Milan (died in 1862), who also published the Voyages pittoresque, historique et geographique de Rome à Naples in 1825-26 (cf. introduction). - The nice views show the classic Pompeian landscape with ruins (partly with figures, also showing the Vesuv's eruption), in addition with a footprint of the city, a geometric view onto the way through the tombs, a view onto the bay and antique Pompeian furniture as well as pieces of columns and friezes. - The accompanying text in German. - Slightly stained in the white margin, title with marginal tear. Binding stained and with crease marks, edgeworn and bumped. - All in all nice decorative copy.
