Hannesen 69. Monogrammed "M" lower left. 76 : 96,3 cm (29,9 : 37,9 in). Hans Meyboden specialised in still lifes, landscapes and views from windows. He was concerned with the enigmatic quality that “has its origin only in our soul rather than in nature” (quoted in: Exhib. Cat. Galerie der Stadt Kornwestheim, p. 7). Transience, stillness and introspection inform his atmospheric still lifes. [NB]

Edges partly with small colour flakings. Stretcher softly pushing through the upper margin. A soft linear pressure mark in the upper part. Partially with soft craquelé, mainly on the margins and along the centre vertical. A small overpainting near the flowerpot, backed from the reverse. A small hole lower left, backed.
